Andrew Fisher at V8 Ute Series
Fishtail sets new lap record on the Gold Coast
Beautiful weather greeted the Auto one V8 ute series teams on Saturday morning with race 1 scheduled for a 10:15am start. Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher was starting from grid position 13 after some overnight steering changes to the car the team felt positive about making up some positions.
Fisher made a great start and picked up a position in the congestion through the first chicane unfortunately at turn 4 Charlie O’Brien simply ran
Fishtail into the wall on the exit which put him back to 14th.
The race settled into a pattern with Fisher moving to 13th early on after a retirement ahead.
Fisher’s mid race pace was outstanding and with some very focused driving was able to round up Baxter, then Dontas To move to 11th and zoned in on McNally. Andrew was looking very good to move into the top 10 when his brake pedal went to the floor sending him into the back of McNally. Andrew nursed the car home to 14th.
“Fishtail” was pleased with his race pace and set a new Lap Record on lap 9 just before the brake failure.
Race 2 is at 8.30am on Sunday morning The top 8 finishers will be reversed and Andrew will start from position 14 assuming there are no penalties. Race 3 is scheduled for 12.30 and will be broadcast on channel 7 (check your local guides).
We’ll let you know how races 2 and 3 play out from Sunday’s program.
