CIM News letter

 Dear Friends,

 Christians in Motorsport

In April Christians in Motorsport (CIM) held its Annual General Meeting. At that meeting there was agreement that CIM needs to improve its communications with members and other interested friends. In order to achieve this, we shall be sending out periodic newsletters.

Our newsletters will be sent by email, but if you are aware of anybody who does not have internet access, but would nevertheless like to hear from us, please let us know and we gladly post them a copy.

At the AGM a steering committee of three people was elected to guide CIM through the next year. My name is Adriano Mediero, and I was elected as Chairman. I pray that God will use me in this position, and help me to serve Him. The other two elected committee members were Steve Sharkey and Steve Luscombe.

Let me introduce myself.  My wife and I are from Brazil, but are currently domiciled in the UK. We live in Bedford and worship at Woodside Church. I am a professional racing driver and am self-employed during the week as an ARDS instructor. I have done races in the GT Trophy, Speed Racing Series, Radical UK Cup, Formula Ford, Britcar.
Please feel welcome to contact me on my email adrianogm@hotmail.com

Steve Sharkey is a former Chairman of CIM, who lives with his family near Ceddar, Somerset. They are members of Lynch Chapel in Winscombe. Steve competes in west country hillclimbs in his RAW Striker and works with the Rosso Verde British GT team, looking after the computers, performing data analysis and calling race strategy.
If you wish to contact him, his email address is steve.sharkey@firmvisual.com

Steve Luscombe has been competing since the 1960s, and after much circuit racing is now concentrating on hillclimbing with his long serving MG Midget. He and his wife are now living near Warminster, Wiltshire, and are members of Warminster Baptist Church.
Contact him on sluscombe@hotmail.co.uk .

As well as the committee, Ray Thorp will continue to serve in his faithful role as our administrator.

The aims of CIM continue to be:-

  1.  To create opportunities for Christian outreach and witness among the motorsport community.
  2.  To provide a fellowship link for Christians within the sport.
  3.  To share matters for prayer.
  4.  To serve the church and offer service to others in any way we can.

We shall be working towards achieving these aims by:-

  • Maintaining an active Christian witness during British GT events.
  • Offering speakers and materials to churches for outreach events.
  • Improving communications between CIM and its members.
  • Supporting Christians sports related activities.
  • Arranging another CIM General Meeting during the Autumn.

I am pleased to tell you that the CIM website is up and running again. Please look regularly at it on www.christiansinmotorsport.org so that you can keeep in touch with CIM activities and dicsussion.

We would sincerely ask you to put aside some time in your prayers to ask God to guide CIM, and to use it in His service.

CIM does not pray that God will help members to win races and rallies, but we do pray that God will help motorsporting Christians to be faithful to Him, and to share their faith with others.

If you have matters for prayer, please do not hesitate to share them. It would be helpful if you could indicate any level of privacy with such requests.

I hope that you have an enjoyable season, whether it involves competing, marshalling, supporting, or spectating.

We shall be circulating this letter to everybody who has been in contact with CIM over the years. If you know of other Christian motorsporting friends, please forward this letter to them.

Yours sincerely,

Adriano Medeiros
(Chairman, Christians in Motorsport)
